Turn to Face the Change
Was performed at the 2005 Edinburgh Fringe Festival at C electric. Monday 15 to Friday 19 August

Rick is a radio presenter whose chat show includes a man sexually
intimidated by a cat. His style changes dramatically when he meets Lisa, an
erotic fiction writer, on a blind date. The romantic comedy also has a
generational edge involving Rick's father and Lisa's mother Dorothy. This is
generally a light hearted, watchable show, but it can be a bit trite and is
sometimes left hanging in the air. The dialogue may seem stilted but the
daughter-mother-flatmate relationship was particularly funny, and there were
some decent performances. The show also has a lush setting in the caverns of
C electric - just don't expect anything too deep or unpredictable.

Rick is a late-night radio talk show host with a mysterious history. He shares a flat with his womanising best friend, Archie. Lisa is a successful writer whose continuing search for love is severely hindered by her mother, Dorothy, a woman with a PhD in emotional blackmail. Through a series of bizarre coincidences, the very different lives of Rick, Lisa, Archie and Dorothy collide, and in one very peculiar night, their lives are changed forever. All four characters are forced to face up to the reasons why they live the way they do, how different things could be, and whether or not change is necessarily a good thing.

The Cast!
Every time I have to cast a show it seems to get harder. All those who auditioned were fabulous, doing shows with Act 2 has clearly just made you all that much better than the very high standard you were at when I last had to make this sort of choice. I am truly sorry for the people who I couldn't find a place for, I would love to have you all in the show...
But here is the chosen cast:
Rick - Peter Hawes Lisa - Richelle Brundle Archie - Richard Fish Dorothy - Naomi Marsh Kate - Tania Harris
Colin and Nigel will be cast in the near future.
If anyone has any questions or comments please get hold of me. I'll be emailing you, hopefully tomorrow, to sort out when you will be free for rehearsals.
This is going to be a great show, thanks all of you for auditioning.

Auditions
I finished going over the script and choosing audition pieces last night. I had thought about asking people to read a short sketch too but the updated script is now so tight that all the comedy you need is right there!
The bits are:
p5-8 Rick and Archie p15-16 Dorothy and Lisa p20-21 Rick and Lisa p30-32 Dorothy and Archie (if necessary)
Looking forward to tonight

Web-Tastitc!
Those helpful chappies at CDS have just registered me the domains www.turntofacethechange.com and www.turntofacethechange.co.uk both of which re-direct back to this page. Kev (Act 2 Webmaster) pointed out that these domains where free, and now after a small investment we will hopefully redirect any wayward web wanders back to our own well crafted site and the information they are hopefully searching for! Hey, every little helps! Tom Producer 'Turn to Face the Change'

Kiss!
Just submitted the image below to C-venues for use on their website and in some of their early publicity along side some of the copy we sent them earlier. As we haven't got a cast at the moment I went with this image to try and convey a little of what the play is about. It was a bit of a speedy job as I'd failed to read a line on the last C-venues bulletin and hadn't realised the deadline was so close - eek! Still - I work well under pressure and I'm pleased with what we came up with - it was an idea we discussed in a couple of the initial meetings and luckily I had just ordered a couple of the microphones for work :-). Louise Freeth assisted greatly by supplying the lipstick (and the lips!) and then gave the photo her magic touch in Photoshop. Thank you Louise x!

Director appointed
After much deliberating and many long chats Simon Bennett has been appointed to fill the role of director of this production. It was a hard decision to make as both candidates are equally qualified to direct. At the end of the day it was felt by James Castro (Assistant to the producer) and I, that in this case Simon's style of directing suited this production more. Naomi Marsh (matriarchal figure head of Act2) will still be involved in the direction of the show, but will also be assisting Mr Castro and myself in production elements.
Auditions for cast will be held shortly - I will post dates as soon as they are confirmed.
